Remittance Methods:
You can send money to India either electronically (INSTANT TRANSFER/ SBI EXPRESS / SWIFT ) or through draft. We issue draft payable at most places in India. We can send remittances by INSTANT TRANSFER/ SBI Express to any of our core banking branches in India (accounts with new 11-digit account numbers), SBI Associate Bank accounts as well as to more than 35,000 other Bank branches. It normally takes one business day for the electronic transfer to reach the beneficiary’s account for non SBI branches while for SBI accounts the transfers normally take place instantly. We accept payment by cash or cheque. The charges and procedures will depend on the mode of payment and mode of transfer. We also do FREE RUPEE REMITTANCES for amounts in excess of GBP 1,000/-. For FREE REMITTANCES, the exchange rate offered will be 85 paise less than the card rate for that day. No cash handling or remittance charges apply for FREE remittances.

If you are paying in cash, you need to bring one identification document, which can either be valid passport OR a Full U.K. driving licence with photo card. |

You are also required to bring one address proof, which can be any utility bill or a bank statement less than 3 months old. |

In case, the cash is £5,000 or more, we request you to provide us the proof of withdrawal from your own Bank A/c. Remittances against cash will be accepted only upto £ 10000/-.# |
Payment by Cheque

We accept your personal cheque issued from your own bank account in UK. The cheque can also be sent to us by post. |

The cheque should be made payable to State Bank of India, Remittances A/c. |
| |
No identification documents are required for any amount up to £9,000. However, if the amount is more than £ 9000,# we require IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENTS. |

It takes 5 working days to clear the cheque, and the draft or electronic transfer will be done on the 5th working day. |
| |
We offer exchange rate applicable as on the date of receipt of the cheque subject to your giving the undertaking
that in case the cheque is returned unpaid you would compensate the Bank for any loss. Otherwise, the exchange rate on 5th working day will be considered as default rate for the transaction. |

Payment through Bank by CHAPS
You can transfer funds in Sterling Pound from your bank account held in any Bank in UK, through CHAPS.
Your Bank may charge you separately for sending the remittance to us. You are required to provide
the following information to your Bank with the request to transfer funds to us in London for onward
transmission to any bank account held with SBI or any of the 35,000 other major Bank branches in India:
Account no – 00868302, account name – “State Bank of India”, sort code 60-01-59 with remarks –
“From Mr/Mrs/Ms XXXX against rupee remittance to Beneficiary A/c Name......A/c no ……….at ……….. branch, ……..bank.
THE FUNDS RECEIVED FROM YOUR BANK WILL BE REMITTED, AFTER DEDUCTING OUR CHARGES,
TO THE DESIGNATED BRANCH IN INDIA. |

Payment through BACS/Internet Banking
For hassle-free remittance, please utilise your UK Bank Internet Banking for money transfer. You can
transfer funds in Sterling Pound from your bank account held in any Bank in UK, through BACS/Internet Banking. This facility is free of cost with most of the UK Banks. You are required to request to transfer funds to us in London for onward transmission to any bank account held with SBI or any of the 35,000 other major Bank branches.
You need to register with us to avail this service. All you need to do is to follow the 5 simple steps given below for a hassle-free remittance experience.

How do I do it?
Easy 5 steps to remit hassle-free to State Bank of India Accounts in India –
Step – I
Complete the Remittance Registration Form (RRF) and submit the same to our UK office along with your Proof of Identity & Address in the UK.
Step – II
SBI UK office provides you with an unique Identification Number for use during rupee remittances to India. Please keep this number handy with you for all your remittances by Internet Banking or Cheque or Cash payment.
Step – III
Use Internet Banking (BACS) of your UK Bank to transfer Pounds to “SBI Express / Instant Transfer Remittances” Account No. 10715801 (sort code 60-01-59)
Step – IV
Confirm the transfer through your registered Email ID to nriservices@sbilondon.com & a copy to mgr.nri@sbilondon.com. Please quote your Identification No and the correct Bank Account no and Bank, Branch details with a request to transfer in RUPEES.
Step – V
Get a confirmatory email from SBI UK office for remittance. The transfer will be done on the 3rd working day/on receipt of your BACS funds, at that day’s Rupee exchange rate.

How can I transfer the money from my Bank Account in U.K. to my NRE savings bank account in India? |

You have four options to send money to your NRE Savings Bank Account and/or to any person
in India, through our U.K. branches. |

Request for an SBI Express remittance , if your account is with any of the networked branches of SBI and SBI Associate Banks. |

Request for an Electronic Transfer, if your account is with any of the 35,000 other major non SBI
Bank branches in India. |

How much time does it take to reach the money into my NRE A/c in India if I send
telegraphically/electronically through SBI? |

If you have the account at one of the core
banking branches (presently over 9,500) with new 11-digit account
numbers, the money should normally reach your account on the same day.
It would take one business day normally for money to reach your account with 35,000 other
major non SBI Bank branches. At other branches that are not networked it may take more time. |

To buy a Rupee draft from SBI, whether I can send a cheque by post or do I have to come
personally? What will be the exchange rate? |

We accept cheques through post for any amount up to £9000, drawn
on any Bank in U.K. The cheque should be made payable to “ STATE BANK
OF INDIA , Remittances account ”. It takes 5 working days to clear the cheque.
We shall issue the draft on the 5th working day. We can offer you the Rupee
exchange rate prevailing on the date of receipt of the cheque, for amounts
upto £ 20000 subject to your giving the undertaking that in case the cheque is
returned unpaid you would compensate the Bank for any loss. Otherwise,
the exchange rate on 5th working day will be considered as default rate
for the transaction.
In case the cheque amount is more than £9000, you need to send the IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENTS
such as verified photocopies of the passport and address proof. |

What are the charges to get the draft through post? |

If you ask us to send the draft by post to you in UK, there won’t be any postal charges.
We shall send the draft to your address in UK through first class Royal Mail. |

If I bring cash to buy a draft/for electronic transfer, what would be the charges? |
| Ans. |
In addition to the charges for draft/electronic transfer (as above), cash handling charges would be £3.00 per £1,000.00. |

Do I need to bring some documents to buy the draft against cash? |

You need to bring your IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENTS. In case the cash is
£5000 or more upto £10000 maximum, you need to provide proof of
withdrawal from your own bank account in addition to the identification
documents. (We suggest that you should contact our U.K. branches for
latest position and further clarification regarding cash transaction.) |

The NRE accounts are opened and maintained in India, at a particular Branch at a particular place.
You can withdraw the money from that Branch only or through any ATM across the country using
your ATM Card. For withdrawing money in U.K., you can use an International ATM card issued from
the Indian branch. Funds from your NRE account can be transferred to your UK bank account in
any convertible currency. |

I already have an NRE/FCNR Deposit Account in India and I want to send more money to my account - What is the procedure? |
| Ans. |
If you want to send money for fixed deposit like FCNR/NRE(Fixed Deposit) you can send the
cheque drawn on any bank in U.K., to our London Main Branch with a covering letter giving
particulars of your NRE/FCNR account and the Branch name in India. The Branch will collect the money from your Bank in U.K. and send it to your account in India on your behalf. There is
a no charge for this service. If you have sent the money previously through our London Main Branch,
kindly give the reference number that would help us in linking your previous deposits. Otherwise,
you need to provide the IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENTS.For further information please contact

It takes five working days to clear the cheque. We shall therefore, convert
your Sterling Pounds into Indian Rupees on the fifth working day at the
exchange rate prevailing on that day. However, we can offer you the
Rupee exchange rate prevailing on the date of receipt of the cheque
subject to your giving the undertaking that in case the cheque is returned
unpaid you would compensate the Bank for any loss. |
